Southwest Sweet Potato Stew

So I am now on my third batch of this stew. I have eaten this for lunch nearly every day for the past month- with a few exceptions here and there. Every time I heat it up in the microwave at work, people say, “Wow. That’s smells delicious! What is that?!” Literally, Every. Single. Time. And the funny thing is, this was a recipe that I threw together on Sunday night as I was rushing to make lunch for the week ahead. I hardly had anything in the house except Thanksgiving-esque remainders like onions and sweet potatoes. I emptied my pantry and found quinoa, tomato paste, a can of coconut milk. At the time, I was becoming tired of the holiday leftovers and wanted something completely different. And thus this smoky Southwest stew was born! (more…)

Happy Birthday, TastefulWisdom, 1-year Anniversary, Big 3-0, and NY Resolutions!

Happy Birthday It is unbelievable to think that we are on the cusp of 2015. What a year! Of course , the obligatory HAPPY BIRTHDAY TastefulWisdom is in order. It was on this day, one year ago, that my hubby and I sat in front of the computer screen for probably 10 hours straight and then rang in the New Year with glassy eyes, headaches, and likely no cocktail in hand (but who’s counting). Together, but admittedly mostly him (in the beginning), we learned WordPress and little by little assembled a fully functioning site. Adam really deserves the credit, because at that time, I hadn’t a clue the first step in blogging or blog design. He was able to take my vision and turn it into a reality. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and I truly want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read and support this site over the past year! (more…)

Did you know that much of adult weight gain can be attributed to the holidays? It is concerning because this weight is harder to lose than we think. We all know (or have been) that motivated New Year’s Resolutioner who kicks of the year ready to burn some serious cals….but we also know how that story usually ends. Research suggests that much of holiday weight gain will not be lost. Ever. Most begin by losing a portion of the weight, while the remainder gets cozy on the hips- for a lifetime.
